Pet name- SNAPPY, 4-year-old male dog was presented with a history of anorexia and seizure-like activity at home. On clinical examination, the dog was dull and recumbent and had two seizure episodes during examination. Random blood glucose was 40 mg/dL, indicating severe hypoglycemia. Mucous membranes were light pink.
Laboratory investigations revealed anemia, leukocytosis (high TLC), and hypoglycemia. Abdominal ultrasonography showed a hepatic nodule with hepatopathy.
The dog was treated with IV fluid therapy with glucose correction, antibiotics, antacids, multivitamins, and hepatoprotective supportive care. At discharge, the prognosis was considered poor.
On follow-up, the dog showed complete recovery, with resolution of seizures, normal appetite and activity, and good quality of life. The patient is currently living comfortably and happily.
